Nanny’s Mountain

Site Area

Front Description

Iron ore was removed from this open pit mine and placed in large wooden sleds with iron runners. Mule teams pulled the sleds filled with ore to the iron works, which made it into pots, pans, and other implements. During the Revolutionary War, the iron ore was used to make cannon balls, sword, and round shot.
